5,000 more listeners

25th October 2012

RAJAR stands for Radio Joint Audience Research and every three months every single radio station in the UK is sent the results of the previous three months research, today was that day.  RAJAR day at any radio station is always a very nervous time and during my time I’ve enjoyed the highs and lows 56 times! Today's RAJAR fell in to the very happy category, we aphonedded a further 5,000 listeners.

Have you have ever wondered how many people actually tune in to KL.FM each week?

Follow these simple steps to get some idea of how many people tune in:

  • The best way to describe it would be to grab the BT telephone directory for King's Lynn & West Norfolk.
  • Do the same for Wisbech.
  • Get the Swaffham directory too.
  • Then get a highlighter pen.
  • Then on EVERY single page of EVERY telephone book highlight EVERY 3rd person on EVERY page.

That is pretty much the amount of people listening to KL.FM, not including those who are ex-directory of course!

King's Lynn Police - Family Room

23rd October 2012

Over the past few months at KL.FM we've been helping in the community to change peoples lives with amongst many things our very special volunteer days.  These are days where everyone at KL.FM has put tools down and spent the whole day, on and off air, helping others.  In July we painted St James Lodge and provided help for the homeless who are temporarily staying with Broadland Housing. Thanks to your generosity  we gave them lots of furniture and our staff gave the place a complete spruce up after we painted the many corridors inside. Most recently we helped the British Heart Foundation increase their donations by more than 7 times what they would normally receive.
POLICE 1
Today with your help along with the team at KL.FM I want to make a difference for families with young children at King's Lynn Police station.  There are loads of reasons why youngsters are brought in and usually it isn’t their fault. They may have run away from carers or parents, or perhaps during the course of police patrols they are found in premises that are very unsuitable, so the decision is made to bring the child to a place of safety. Sometimes the parents are brought in for questioning and the child has to come with them because there is no one else at home to look after them.

Family Room at KL Police

The room where the children are looked after needs to be a friendly place as the whole idea of going to a strange building with people you don’t know when you are little is daunting, with your help we can make the experience a little better!

Here is a list of what I'll be looking for today, if you can help with any of the following please Tweet me at @simonrowe or call 01553 692192.

Travel cot with sheets and bedding.
Car and booster seats
Nappies
Baby Wipes
Nintendo Game Cube Games
Vitech smile machine games.
Toys
Kids food and drink
Eastern European toys

Thanks for your time and I hope you can help.

Si

Standing Still

22nd October 2012

On Friday I went for a stroll around King's Lynn delivering doughnuts to anyone that was working hard in the town centre and even those who were quite simply just standing around doing nothing.

Would you be able to resist a nice sugary doughnut like this lady?

Strike a pose

15th October 2012

On Saturday the team from KL.FM spent the afternoon smiling, pouting and posing for the camera, noting new for Adam Newstead, whilst having our latest set of promotional photographs taken courtesy of Rebel Heart Photography.

My wife chose this picture has her favourite.

 Promo ShootPromo Shoot

My wife chose the picture on the right has her favourite. But the team at KL.FM thought I should use the one on the left.

Have we made the right choice or should I of put a paper bag over my head?

Tweet @simonrowe and let me know.

Jump from outer space

14th October 2012

After a postponed jump in the week today is the day Felix Baumgartner will fall from near-space, 23 miles above the Earth’s surface and break the speed of sound in the process.

Jut to remind and warn you...

This obviously comes with plenty danger; his blood could boil, his lungs could overinflate, the vessels in his brain could burst and his eyes could haemorrhage.

Felix will be jumping from 23 miles up on the edge of space as he attempts to break the sound barrier.

Computer Revenge - Soundcheck

11th October 2012

Simon destroys the computer that sent him 40 “Soundcheck” survey reminders overnight.  If you received a barrage of emails this morning too we would like to apologise and as you will see we have made sure nothing like this will ever happen again.

Sorry!

Unseen epidode of Family Guy

10th October 2012

I have to hold up my hand and say I've never seen a single episode of Family Guy, that's despite everyone raving about it, the show winning lots of awards and always being on.  This weekend I intend to change that but for those of you who do watch it I think you'll enjoy this.

King's Lynn 3 - 0 Romulus

7th October 2012

King's Lynn put on a very convincing performance against Romulus as they climbed to second place in the league with their 3-0 win.  It took just 20 seconds for the Mighty Linnets to take the lead in this weekend’s Evo Stick 1st Division South League game at the Walks.

The goal is below, well almost!

With thanks to Gavin at the EDP and Greg at the Lynn News here is the after match interview with manager Gary Setchell.

50 Years of the Beatles

5th October 2012

Today marked 50 years since The Beatles released their first single Love Me Do and KLFM celebrated by playing loads of Beatles tracks.

Below you can listen to a lovely story from Vicky In King's Lynn who told me about her Grandad, who was the subject of one Beatles song.

I also spoke to Eve who knew the Beatles as friends!

Do you have a connection to the Beatles?  Tell me by making a comment on this page.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

Team Member of the Year

3rd October 2012

To be hoChampersnest it’s not often I'm lost for words but I didn't know what to say at our weekly meeting when it came to announcing who the staff at KL.FM had voted "Team Member of the Year".  Our MD read out the nominations and as mine continued to come with reasons why I got slightly redder with each one!

Fingers crossed this bottle of bubbly, my prize, will be opened to celebrate something very exciting that is about to happen in my life.  I think a nice Chinese Take-Away and this to wash it down will be the order of the day if all goes my way.

I should also say well done to my KL.FM buddy Clare Harper or Harper 7 as I call her who also had the same amount of votes as me! x

Thanks to the brilliant team here at KL.FM especially the ones who picked me, lol. (-:
