Si's Summer Holiday
13th August 2012
This year we decided to stay in the UK rather than travel to somewhere hot due to a lack of pennies and opted, after much hunting, to rent a cottage in Yorkshire for a few days during the kids summer holiday. From our base in a wonderful little village called Howarth we visited lots of top attractions in and around the area. We were so 'Jet-Set' visiting such glorious locations as Stoke-on-Trent, Bradford and Thirsk. If you get the chance you must take the kids to Water world, it’s an awesome indoor water park with so many slides you won't know which one to try next and the most awesome whirlpool which if you not careful can end up in all afternoon trying to get out. Thanks to our Sister station Minster FM and their 'Half-Price days out we visited Camelot Theme Park where I enjoyed the Jousting and the Log Flume, but by far the best family day out was the free one at Bradford's Media Museum; WOW is all I can say, the kids loved reading the weather and the news, they got to film a soap opera, play retro computers and so much more. Another attraction at the museum was the Super Hi-Def demonstration which was showing some of the best Olympic moments from the crowd’s point of view; it was the closest I imagine you could possibly get to actually being in the stadium. The day was topped off with seeing "The Dark Knight Rises" in the IMAX which again was out of this world.
After a week with the kids the wife & I spent a day, just us, at the races where a win on the 1st race paid for my losses over the next 6 races, it didn't however cover the stupid amount of money they were charging for Pimms and Strawberries!
