Live Music Maggini Quartet play Mozart and Schubert
Mozart String Quartet in D major K499 ‘Hoffmeister’

Rawsthorne String Quartet No.3 (with generous support from The Radcliffe Trust)

INTERVAL

Schubert String Quartet in G major D887

The concert opens with Mozart’s eloquent and much loved ‘Hoffmeister’ quartet. At the centre is a typically compact and terse statement by the 20th century English composer Alan Rawsthorne; his third quartet combines intensity with delightful contrasts. After the interval is Schubert’s last quartet, his magnificent G major. Composed in just ten days in June 1826, it took another twenty four years for the work finally to receive its first performance.

This concert is part of Magginis in Breckland, a chamber music festival held in the heart of Norfolk, and will be supporting the Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice Support.
