Feasability Study Taking Place on A47
7:15am 27th August 2013
Making the A47 into a dual carriageway is a small step closer this morning as a new study is starting to look into the costs and benefits of upgrading the route
It follows a meeting between all the local MP's and the Department of last week.
They were told there HAD been under investment in Norfolk and this feasability study will be the first step in changing that.
It will also look at how much there is to GAIN from upgrading the route in terms of benefit to business, tourism and new jobs.
MP for South West Norfolk Elizabeth Truss was at the meeting and says it could be a deciding factor on whether the government stumps up the cash or not:
"We need a feasability study because we don't have costings for what it would take to dual the sections. We don't know what the economic benefits are. What we did on the A11 was that we identified what the economic benefits would be and that helped us make the case, so this feasability study is very important."
