Hillington Square Revamp Latest

The team behind the revamp of Hillington Square in King's Lynn say they are confident the new flat designs will help the community that lives there.
The area has suffered problems with crime, bad health, and vandalism in the past.
Now Freebridge Community Housing has unveiled the new look flats after old blocks were demolished.
Tony Hall is the Chief Executive of Freebridge Housing and says the building work was badly needed:
“It’s started to look a bit tired. The area was built in the late 60’s into the early 70’s and at that time it was part of a slum clearance. People at the time were quoted as saying it was like coming to live in paradise. But it’s not stood the test of time.”
He’s also hoping the revamp will do much more than look nice with real benefits for the people who live there:
“The built environment can have an impact on a person’s wellbeing, their mental health, and how they connect with their neighbours.
A lot of the open space that was seen as a good thing back in the 60’s was meant so that people could connect with their neighbours – that just didn’t happen.”
