North Norfolk Facing Cuts of £1.2million
8:09am 17th September 2014
The Leader of North Norfolk District Council has told KLFM News he's confident he can make cuts that won't affect people living locally.
The Council needs to save £1.2million after the government announced it was going to give less to local authorities.
Leader of the Council Cllr Tom Fitzpatrick says they’ve been pretty good at making savings up until now:
“So far we’ve done it by efficiencies. We’ve reduced staff by changing the way we do things and there are now 23 less posts than there were 2 years ago.”
But there’s likely to be more to come as all our local councils are likely to face more big cuts following the 2015 General Election.
“I think the indications are that it’s going to be more of the same and that’s across the political spectrum. I think that’s one thing that all the parties agree on that it’s not going to be easy for central government after 2015.”
