KLFM News has been taking a look at just how vital our local fishermen and women are to West Norfolk after new figures showed the value of the fish they've brought home has almost DOUBLED since 2010.
The Marine Management Organisation says £2.9million worth of fish was brought into Lynn last year.
Andy Roper is the Chairman of the Greater Wash Fishing Industries Group:
“There’s a tremendous amount of effort being put in. The guys are diversifying into different fisheries; they’ve got into whelk fishing which is turning out to be quite lucrative at the moment.”
But he says you won’t see anyone getting off their boat and into a Ferrari any time soon.
“Like everything else, it’s the investment that you have to put in to keep up. It doesn’t mean that you’re going to end up with all that money in your pocket. Sometimes you have to turn over more money to reinvest.”
