Legal battle launched over King's Lynn incinerator plans
The government is going to be taken to court over the King's Lynn incinerator.
It's after it gave PFI credits to fund the plans for Saddlebow.
West Norfolk Borough Council decided last night it would take legal action over the decision.
To give the funding the government rules say there needs to be a broad consensus of support for a scheme.
The Borough Council believe they can prove that consensus doesn't exist and so the funding shouldn't have been awarded.
£150,000 of council funds have been set aside to pay the legal bills involved in this action.
West Norfolk Borough Council leader Nick Daubney told KLFM: "As far as I can see there is little or no support for the building of this incinerator it's a complete bafflement to me how these PFI credits can be awarded and I wish to challenge that decision in the courts."
"The Secretary of State clearly said in November that she didn't think the criteria had been met and she required further evidence. Well I haven't seen further evidence, where is it?"
