An armed siege in Sutton St James has ended.

Police were called yesterday to reports of a man with a gun making threats.

Firearms officers were called in and one suffered a minor injury to his face.

Last night police involved in the standoff and negotiations decided to go into the man's house.

They found him dead upstairs.

Officers have thanked the villagers for their patience.

No shots were fired by police but an investigation will now take place by the IPCC to look at how the tragedy unfolded.
