PUBLIC FILE

The Public File is a document produced by KL.FM 96.7 containing details of our output as a radio station, including our format and commitment to localness. Each local commercial station in the UK has obligations with regard to its programmes, including its music and local content. These obligations are set out in the station format which forms part of our Public File.

News For West Norfolk
KLFM 96.7's newsroom provides listeners across West Norfolk with a comprehensive roundup of local, international and national news every hour of the day. Our news desk has well respected, strong links to local authorities, community groups and residents' associations in West Norfolk, guaranteeing that we provide a balanced view of the news that matters to those living and working in our area.

Recent local stories include:

  • King's Lynn residents who've had enough of bad street lighting are taking action. They're handing a petition to the council next monday. It has over 150 signatures and demands improvements to the footpath lighting between Gaywood and Fairstead.

  • A West Norfolk mum's going to star in a TV documentary about Britain's biggest babies. Kathryn Frost from Watlington's just given birth to Sophie who weighed in at 11 pounds 7 ounces, although her little sister Lilly entered the world weighing 11 pounds 14.

Our journalists obtain local news from countless sources across the region, but the stories that really grab our attention come from you. You can contact our journalists Gary Phillips & Claire Gregory on 01553 771778 or via

Programming
All of our programming is produced and presented locally from our studios in the heart of King's Lynn with the exception of Hit 40 UK and The Sixth Sense. KL.FM 96.7 automates some aspects of programming using the latest computer technology; there is normally no automation during weekday daytime.

Recent programming highlights include rallying hundreds of listeners to hunt for a dog trapped in car somewhere in Kings Lynn, despite the freezing fog and being 3 days before Christmas. This gave KL.FM some International exposure via SKY NEWS and had happy ending too.

Father Christmas joined the presentation team on December 25th for a very special show in which he recounted the previous night and shared some amazing stories.

We are also embarking on our biggest on-air promotion ever at the moment. Over an 8 week period we are going to give away a car.

KL.FM 96.7 won the Radio Academy's Nations & Regions award for East Anglia's station of the year, two years running in 2004 and 2005, as well as being nominated for a Sony Award in 2004 for Station of the Year (under 300,000).

KL.FM 96.7 In The Community
KL.FM 96.7 plays a vital role within West Norfolk promoting and financially supporting many local charities and events. Armed with the Bio-Powered Lighting Saab from Thurlow Nunn promotion vehicle, KL.FM 96.7 attends various locally organised events such as school fetes. As well as attending these types of events KL.FM 96.7 also runs an on-air and on-line Community Switchboard detailing what's on in West Norfolk and when.

KL.FM 96.7 was very pleased to help Dereham Twinkle for Christmas 2007. We heard that there was not enough funding to light up the market place and that the town would have been in the dark during the festive season. KLFM's Breakfast with Simon Rowe, and our very generous sales force got together to offer FREE airtime to match the value of any donation to the fund to make the light switch happen. £3000 was the target which was completely smashed along with offers of LIVE bands to perform, a FREE stage and of course the KLFM Roadshow at no cost whatsoever.

And it's not just local charities that KL.FM 96.7 keenly supports; there are local sport teams too such as King's Lynn FC and the King's Lynn Stars speedway team.
