- Old Hunstanton is fantastic, I love the old Lighthouse, the cliffs, the beach, the peace, the quiet and the odd pub up that way! In fact I’ve even been known to try out some Kite Surfing’ when there! It was the most enthralling thing I’ve ever done in my life and I’ve never felt so alive. Being only 5ft 4 there isn’t too much weight to keep me on the ground so as you can imagine I spent most of the time being dragged through the wash and ending up half way to Boston! See some of the pictures here and check out my sexy wet suit!
- It's fair to say I'm addited to social media at the moment, you can find me on twitter via @simonrowe. I'm mad about my Iphone, use my son's PS3 more than he does and think SKY Plus is the greatest invention the world has ever seen! (-:
- Big fan of David Gray, Kings of Leon, Michael Jackson, Florence and the Machine and anything by Scouting for Girls. I went to see them at Thetford Forrest last summer and of all the gigs I’ve been to they really were one of the best, cheeky, sing along, fun, involving and entertaining bands, especially when they sung about Posh Girls and Michaela Strachan!
Movies I Love...
- Pulp Fiction, Love Actually, Oceans 11, Slumdog Millionaire, American Beauty and anything made by DreamWorks or Pixar. Having two 9 year olds I’ve seen them all, Monsters Inc was the 1st but my kids claim to be too big to watch Sully and his friends these days, but I’m hoping I can convince them to come to the Majestic to see the next instalment which is apparently in production, awesome! However they find all trips with Dad to the cinema embarrassing as I am the voice you hear before all the films.
TV shows I Love...
- Apprentice, Greys Anatomy, House, Friends, Come dine with me. In fact I’m worried that I’m turning into a girl as I’d rather watch what the wife likes than blokey things! We recently watched 7 whole seasons/series each with 24 episodes in just a couple of months, I’d get home from work, eat dinner, watch Grays then go to bed every day! Saaad!
- Is this the real life Is this just fantasy Caught in a landslide No escape from reality Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy Because I'm easy come, easy go; little high, little low anyway the wind blows doesn't really matter to me To me.
- Adam Newstead Many years ago when he was just a boy I asked listeners to my show to make me a jingle, we received hundreds and one of them was from a young lad called Adam who was desperate to get a show on the radio. I’m hoping to locate the audio so you can have laugh at his expense in the near future.

I took KLFM' Managing Director to the Walks to see King's Lynn play in the UCL League Cup against Cogenhoe and there were plenty of goals to celebrate!
The Linnets went through to the next round after a 5-3 win which in all honesty could have seen many more goals hitting the back of the net!
KLTFC' manager Gary Setchell who was awarded 'Manager of the Month' for the 2nd month in a row spoke about hiss teams performance after the whistle.

I would like to say "thank you" to everyone who has expressed an interest in KLFM's Charity of the Month so far. Thanks to you we have TWO new Chemotherapy Chairs for the centre and would now like to upgrade the existing two as well.
Please take a look at our 'Just Giving' page to learn more and make a donation if you wish,

PLANES GOING ROUND AND ROUND My Twiiter feed has been very busy today with tweets about a plane that has been circling the Wash since 7am this morning.
Was it a Jumbo Jet, why was it there?
After reading my follower's messages and making some enquirees we discoverd the circling plane over the Wash was an RAF surveillance plane & according to RAF Marham wasnot from their base.
It also seems their are many more over the country doing the same thing.
Have a close look at the plane in question below.

THE CAMPBELLS TOWER A day has passed, the tower has gone, was it strange driving past today? I heard from a friend today that the last tin of Campbell's alphabet soup was rescued shortly before the explosion, which was just as well as it could of spelt disaster!
SORRY! Thanks to Tristan Long for the gag!

| WEDNESDAY 11TH JANUARY I paid a visit to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital this week to find out more on the need for more Chemotherapy Chairs to treat paitents with cancer.
Around 1500 new cancer patients are treated at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn every year. Many of these patients have chemotherapy treatment which is carried out in our specialist unit.
The Chemotherapy Room currently has eight special ‘chemo’ chairs, from where we treat 25 patients every day. Cancer treatment services in King’s Lynn are recognised nationally as giving patients a ‘Gold Standard’ level for treatment.
We are currently appealing for funds to allow us to purchase two additional chemo chairs. These are the specialist treatment stations from where chemotherapy is administered. Each chair costs £750, which means we need to raise £1500. Having two additional chairs will allow us to treat a further six patients every day.
Please help us to help others. Cancer recovery success rates are improving all the time. Your donation will be gratefully received and used exclusively for the benefit of patients with cancer.
If you can spare anything or would like to know more please click the Just Giving link below
Thanks

| SATURDAY 7TH JANUARY
The Linnets were back in UCL Premier Division action this afternoon against AFC Kempston Rovers at the Walks and before the game
K
The Linnets didn't start the match very well, infact the 1st half was poor by their standards so far this season. After Gary had words during the break Lynn returned to field full of ideas and gusto, so much so that it took just 2 minutes for Lynn to take the lead.
The game ended 2-0 and meant another 3 points in the bag which were even more valuable as the final score at title rivals Long Buckby was 1-1.

| WEDNESDAY 4TH JANUARY The Whale was finally removed from Old Hunstanton beach earlier today, as KLFM was the 1st to report.Did you get the chance to go and see it?
I completely understand why it was such an attraction after all its not every day you get to stand so close to such an amazing creature of the deep. What I struggled to understand however is why some complete idiots took time to take away any dignity the poor whale had left by stealing his teeth, chain-sawing his jaw, laying on him, walking all over him and much more.
That is completely unforgivable and not fun in any shape of form especially as some of this was filmed and placed on You Tube.
My little girl is obsessed with sharks and the like at the moment and had wanted to see it over Christmas so yesterday the kids and my wife took a trip to a very busy beach to catch a glimpse of the wonderful beast.
On arrival my wife was pleased to realise there was no smell thanks to the wind direction, my son was very upset as it was so windy, the sand was blowing in his eyes and as he put it “He was nearly walking in the air”.
Holly loved it though and told me tales of how big, fat and tall the whale was, “as big as from that wall Dad to that wall over there and this tall!” Jo my wife was most unimpressed however, her boots were ruined, she got covered in sand, her hair resembled being dragged through a bush backwards and they all got very wet as the bright afternoon suddenly turned into another mini storm of wind and rain.
RIP The Whale

| TUESDAY 3RD JANUARY
Back to work then, arggghh!
Don't know about you but I found it almost impossible to fall asleep last night with the strong winds and rain, it was so noisy. That's just typical though, the one night I need to get up the next day and I'm going to be shattered. I tried having a wash, sorting out the duvet, plumping and turning over the pillows but still no good. I then decided to use the battery on my Iphone till it ran down from 20%. An hour later after spending time on Twitter I still could not get to sleep but did get quite engrossed in the tweets about the body found in Sandringham. I must have fallen asleep eventually however because I woke up at about 9:30, not feeling great but I had been to sleep at least, I think!
| FRIDAY 16TH DECEMBER
I left the studio while I was playing four songs in a row to join Santa at Scotty's Little Soldiers as we delivered more presents on the Toy Appeal with Hunters Landrover. | TUESDAY 13TH DECEMBER Lights, Camera, Action! I took a trip to Denver Mills Farmers Market to catch up Alix Pollizi (Hotel Inspector) who has been following the family who run the mills and the activities that take place every day. They are the focus of a BBC2 programme which will feature KLFM early next year.
It was a very cold evening to the say the least but the atmosphere was great, the food was amazing and the mulled wine even better.
Remember to watch the show on BBC 2 next year, I'll let you know when it's on and what its called as soon as know!

Thought I would share this video of our wonderful mascot Super Trooper earning some money whilst we were on the Toy Appeal at ASDA in South Wootton.
| FRIDAY 9TH DECEMEBER
What a great start to the day, I had to visit the QE to interview a Doctor for next year's Charity of the Month on KLFM, I used the opportunity to waste £3 on parking but also have a coffee and cake with my wife who works their as PA to two doctors, it was really nice to take just a few moments out of my day to meet her. (-:
Today was also the last day of giving away tickets to Cinderella at the King's Lynn Corn Exchange so I called my friends at the venue to see if I could get an extra set of family tickets for my on air competition, they said yes meaning I was able not only to give today's winner some tickets but the loser too, this felt good and they were very happy.
I'm gonna be checking out the performance on Sunday evening so if you are going to, please come and say 'Hi' |
Simon and Sharron from Eastenders. Letitia Dean is the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella this year. |
| THURSDAY 8TH DECEMBER
I left KLFM slightly early, don't tell the boss to see my kids carol service at St Faiths Church in Gaywood, it was blooming freezing but very heart warming to see Holly, Jake and their class mates perform such a brilliantly put together performance. The mince pie at the end of the show was very nice too! Well done to everyone that took part.
| WEDNESDAY 7TH DECEMBER
I've said it before and I'll say it again "every day is different at KLFM" and today proved my point. I presented Tim's show between 10-2 so that I was free to help the lovely people at Denver Mill script, create and produce a radio commercial to promote their Farmers Market on Tuesday 13th December, nothing out of the norm you might think for a radio station but we had to start from scratch, including getting them to voice it in time for the advert to be loaded onto our system ready for the next day. The interesting part to this story is that whilst this whole process took place Clare, one of our media execs, and the guys from Denver Mill were being filmed for a BBC 2 documentary which will be shown in the New Year.
Clare and I were a little nervous at the thought of being filmed for TV, but as they say on all the reality shows, "you forget the cameras are there", honestly you really do. It was a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy not only the TV show but quite like the advert we created in such a short space of time.
Have a listen to the advert which you'll hear on KLFM and no doubt on BBC 2 as well!
If you would like to join me, Denver Mill and the show's host Alix polizzi (The Hotel Inspector) for some Mulled Wine and an afternoon/evening of fun please visit us when we will be filming again on Tuesday 13th December at Denver Mills.
For more information visit their website by clicking here.

| TUESDAY 29TH NOVEMBER
Today was my first day on the road for KL.FM's Toy Appeal and once again I was blown away by the generousity of the shoppers at Morrisons in Fakenham.
Santa, his Norfolk Green Bus and our 4x4 from Hunters Land Rover had a great day and will be out and about for the next two weeks collecting for children who will be away from their family over Christmas.
We will be delivering to Scotty's Little Soldiers, Rudham Ward and A&E at the QE and many other deserving places. For more on where to drop your toys, please click here.
Before my trip to Fakenham I was drawn to the Vancouver Quarter by the angelic voices of the Children from Greyfriar's School in King's Lynn who were perfoming carols in the cold to warm shoppers, spread some festive cheer and raise money for a former KL.FM Charity of the Month - Scotty's Little Soldiers.
Have a listen to one of their songs below!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas
Also today I would like to wish Dereham Town FC the best of luck against Norwich City FC in the Norfolk Senior Cup at Aldiss Park and Fakenham Town FC all the luck in the world with their new striker tonight who will be hunting for some much needed goals!

| SATURDAY 26TH NOVEMBER
WOW, WHAT A DAY! My day got underway at around 6:30am with a trip to the home of the owners of Sandles Car Supermarket for a flight in their helicopter with KLFM's very own Super Trooper to the car lot for KLFM's 'Lights on, Lights off'. By 11am around 150 people had arrived in Pott Row to win a car worth £5000 and I had the job of giving it away. After 6 rounds of questions we eventually found a winner, Rowan Thaxton aged 13, who made his parents' day by collecting the keys to their new family car!
My jet set day continued with a trip back towards King's Lynn to collect my little boy for a massive suprise, I was taking him to Upton Park to watch West Ham play Derby in the Championship. It was a very long, energetic rush with the logistics of driving to the helicopter, being the man on the radio giving away a car, collecting my car and getting to London with 23,000 other people in time for the game but completely worth it just to see how excited he was about going to see the 'Hammers with Dad while my wife and daughter went 'boring' Christmas shopping.
Big thanks to Paul, everyone at Sandles, KLFM's Super Trooper and West Ham for getting 3 points and making an amazing day even greater!
It was about 10pm when I got home, completly shattered but I'd had an amazing day!

| THURSDAY 24TH NOVEMBER "Hello Princess" Sharron from Eastenders came to see me today ahead of turning on the Christmas lights in King's Lynn. Letitia Dean is this years Fairy Godmother at the King's Lynn Corn Exchange. Cinderella begins on 8th December.

| THURSDAY 17TH NOVEMBER Today I sat behind a different desk, no buttons or faders but a desk in the school hall of Thomas Clarkson College in Wisbech for their Careers Day. Along with lots of local businesses and people from the Police, Fire Service and Army I offered my time to talk to the students about my career in the media and radio. I felt this was a great thing to do especially as when I was 17 and asked my careers advisor about being on the radio the response was rather negative, they sent me to an estate agent after that for work experience! To be able to share my stories and advice felt good and I got the impression that the students I spoke to, which was just about all of them, were interested in what I had to say.
There was plenty of food and coffee to keep me going and I look forward to doing it all over again in the future, I’m also looking forward to seeing some of the pictures they took with me on Facebook.
If you would like advice on getting a career in radio or would just like to see how things work you only have to send me an email to get the ball rolling! simon.rowe@klfm967.co.uk

It's very exciting in my house right now as my son is going to be in the the Lynn News soon, however it wasn't todays )-: Poor old Jake has to wait while his Daddy just barges in front.
Have you seen page 7 today? Thanks to Alan Miller who has snapped a superb picture of the guys involved in the charity single 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' which is rasing cash for the Discovery Centre, to see it you'll need to grab a copy but in the meantime here is our not quite so good version.
Grab a copy today, see the picture and also you'll be able to read 'Adam & Hannahs' column too!
The release date is edging nearer (Monday 21st November) and I have been trying to secure the CD's to press the audio on to this afternoon. It is with MASSIVE thanks to Argos, New Condiut Street, King's Lynn that the press will begin to roll in time for the tunes release after they donated the 1st 300 discs. THANK YOU!!

| SUNDAY 13TH NOVEMBER I'd like to say today was one of the strangest days of my life, but after 13 years of working for KLFM I can assure you there have been many 'strange' activities in my life! Today was all about Melon-Aid and recording the video for 'Do They Know Its Christmas - 2011' to raise cash for the North Lynn Discovery Centre.
On arrival for the shoot I was greeted by a host of 80's icons including Rod Stewart, Bob Geldof and Freddie Mercury all of whom in their normal day to day life are from local bands that play pubs n clubs around West Norfolk. It really was a crazy to be part of this group of around 15 people walking through town filming on location for what will be a very funny video.
Among others I'd like to thank Terry from Premier Airport Services for providing transport for our iconic line up and the Party Shop for dressing Rod Stewart (Adam Newstead) and Michael Jackson (me).
Keep an eye on my blog for the video and don't forget the song will be available from shops, clubs n bars around West Norfolk from 21st November.
It's for a great cause, please spread the word and please buy a copy!

| SATUDAY 5TH NOVEMBER
Despite the rain and the cold around 800 fans watched the Linnets in action this afternoon at the The Walks Stadium.
King's Lynn FC were by far the better team in this top of the table clash that finished KLTFC 5 - 1 St Ives.
Garry Setchell, Linnets manager was very pleased with his team's performance. (See video)
Meantime the guys over at Clipbush park in Fakenham did not have such a great afternoon losing to Godmanchester.
You can follow their progress with Movember on this page over the week. (See below)

| FRIDAY 4TH NOVMEBER
I recieved an email today from a lovely lady on the Fairstead, in King's Lynn who told me about her 3 year old son with mental disabilities whose Halloween was ruined by mindless vandals. He collects garden gnomes and these vandals smashed his whole collection. Why anyone would do such a thing I don't know, but this little boy is now very upset. I set about trying to right some wrongs on the show today and would like to thank Alison at Dents Farm Shop in Hilgay for helping out with her donation to get his collection back off to a freesh start.

| TUESDAY 1ST OCTOBER - MELON AID 2011
I feel like a pop star, well maybe an X-Factor reject but it's all for a fantastic cause. Adam Newstead & I have been signed up to perform with a host of local bands from West Norfolk to sing a line for a cover of 'Band-Aid's - Do They Know It's Christmas". The song once it's ready will be on sale in shops and pubs in King's Lynn.
We are hoping to raise lots of cash for the Discovery Centre in North Lynn, a former KLFM Charity of the Month. The Discovery Centre does so much for the community and any funding to help it to continue to do so would be greatly received. For more info on the discovery centre visit their website.
Don't forget to keep an eye out for "Melon Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas" in a store near you, for more information keep an eye on my blog and listen to “Home-time” from 2 every weekday on KL:FM.
And remember if you're on Twitter its #MELONAID

Another fantastic victory for the Linnets! I was at the game today which saw King's Lynn run out winners by 6 goals to nil against Northampton Spencer in the UCL Premier League. See what the gaffer Gary Setchell had to say after what can only be described as a 'Walk in the Walks!'

| FRIDAY 21ST OCTOBER
Every day in the past 13 years has been very different at KLFM for me, there is always something happening that might raise an eyebrow, nudge your interest or dare I say showbiz? The day started with a visit from 90's soul legend Kenny Thomas who chatted with Bob Stewart at the desk next to mine and reminisced about old times and the music scene back then.
Later in the morning I attended the secret gig by Charlie Simpson in Kings Lynn with the rest of KLFM’s Staff and just 10 lucky KLFM Winners. Charlie was amazing live, great voice, great set and very very very tall!

| THURSDAY 20TH OCTOBER
I was a few minutes late for work today after getting stuck at the St James Multi Story Car Park when the barriers wouldn't lift! You can picture the scene, I pulled up to the get my parking pass and nothing happened, the car next to me did the same thing, we both reversed and the other car tried the entrance I was in, it didn't work for him either, but why the next 10 cars who saw all of this happening thought they would have more luck defeats all reason. It was very funny to watch them all try the machine and then reverse back out!
On leaving work the St James Car Park was looking very festive however, they the Christmas decorations up!
Merry Christmas!!

| SATURDAY 15TH OCTOBER
A massive game at the Walks on a chilly afternoon is how I spent my Saturday afternoon with my little boy, c'mon the Linnets says Jake! Around 825 others also braved the weather to enjoy a mouthwaterinig 90 minutes of FA Cup Football against Stratford. Lynn were one goal down after just a couple of minutes and it seemed that the visitors would tear us apart, however 'Football is a funny old game". I'm not sure what it is that Gary Setchell says to the team at half-time but week in week out they always perform amazing in the 2nd half, so much so that in large parts of the game dominated the proceedings. An equaliser saw Lynn smile again on 52 minutes thanks to Jack Defty who also knocked another superb volley in the net on 63 minutes. Stratford managed to equalise with a shot that blasted our net from distance, this made for a intense final few minutes and prospect of a replay at their place. However after so much pressure Lynn managed to get the winner with minutes to spare thanks to Danny White' goal.
It finished King's Lynn 3 - 2 Stratford and to hear what manager 'Gary Setchell had to say watch the video on the right.
Cmon on the Linnets

| SATURDAY 1ST OCTOBER I took my little boy to the walks to see King's Lynn in FA Cup action against Quorn and what an amazing game it was! A full 90 minutes of end to end stuff with some brilliant standout performances fromSpriggs and from Defty who held off three men to assist one goal and scoreanother of King's Lynn' FOUR goals. We had the best seats in the house thanks to the lack of a certain other station; thanks Alistair, the view from the commentary box was something else.
Question: What is the point of Sinita?
