People & Animals UK

1st August 2018

People and Animals provide all sorts of different animal-assisted therapies as well as nature-based therapies.

The charity's exciting event is the opening of their own community farm in Wisbech.

Having a place of their own means they can have more than just dogs they can have everything from horses to sheep to lizards.

There will also be lots of different community projects: gardening, woodworking and arts and crafts.

The seven-acre plot will open in September.

For more information - go to the charity's website.

Purfleet Trust

1st June 2018

The Trust was set up in 1993 to help homeless people in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.

But pressure on the charity has increased a lot over the years as it continues to provide accommodation, support and hot food for those in need in our county.

They faced a real surged in demand over winter especially during the Beast from the East but the problem is here all year round and they need help to keep their support going throughout.

The team at Purfleet Trust do amazing work in our community

The Trust relies on their donors and volunteers to continue their work in our community and during June they’re in need of food, clothes and anything else people can spare.

Find out more on their website and you can donate here.

We look after the local armed forces community, so anybody who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force or family of can come into our centre in King's Lynn.

Any problems from financial difficulties, homelessness, looking for work, mental health issues, adaptions needed at your house, you can come into the centre and have a free confidential interview and we will look at getting the right support for you.

If we can't do it then the partners we work with, we can do that together and do that as a collaborative to help resolve your problems.

The General Dannatt Contact Centre is open to the public from 10am to 4pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays, and service personnel and families from all British Armed Services can pop-in for a free tea or coffee.

Our dedicated volunteers can provide a listening ear or assistance with compensation claims, pension advice, advice on housing and accommodation, service records and medal applications.

For those curious, we have our own dedicated client researcher who carries out military family research for beneficiaries interested in discovering their ancestry.

Age UK Norfolk is an independent, local charity. We have over 70 years’ experience dedicated to supporting older people and their families living in Norfolk. We raise our own funds and rely on local fundraising to provide vital services across the county.

Every year, thousands of older people and their carers turn to Age UK Norfolk for support. Whether it’s advice in a time of need, help filling out complicated forms or a friendly chat when they are feeling lonely, we are here to help.

We are proud to be making Norfolk a great place to grow older!

Every year, thousands of older people and their carers turn to Age UK Norfolk for support. Whether it’s advice in a time of need, help filling out complicated forms or a friendly chat when they are feeling lonely, we are here to help.

But we couldn’t do it alone. Our dedicated team of volunteers are the backbone of our organisation and without their help; we simply would not be able to deliver all the services that we do.

We urgently need volunteers in the Kings Lynn area to help us ensure more older people remain independent in their own homes for longer. Please visit our website ageuknorfolk.org.uk or call us on 01603 787 111 for more information today.
