Norfolk Accident and Rescue Service (NARS)

1st May 2018

We're a charity made up of Doctors and Critical Care Paramedics who give up our time to go out and support the ambulance crews at the most seriously ill and critically injured patients throughout Norfolk.

There's 15 of us that work in the team and all our members have additional specialist training and work free of charge.

For example one week we were called out to 5 cardiac arrests and two serious road traffic collisions, all in West Norfolk.

NARS paramedics on scene in Norfolk

Pre hospital care takes place at the scene of an accident and in transit to the hospital. The aim is to save lives and enhance the level of treatment given prior to admission to A&E.

We carry specialist equipment designed to cope with the most challenging medical emergencies. We are also trained and equipped to perform emergency surgical procedures at the scene of an accident.

We can be called at any time of the day or night for an immediate dispatch to incidents such as, Road Traffic Collision, falls from height and cardiac arrests. All of our cars have the necessary equipment and blue lights, so we can attend no matter where we may be in the county.

Our charity doesn't get any government funding at all and we rely heavily on people to fund for us.

NARS is a vital resource within our county to help save lives.
