Christmas is SAVED!

Saving Christmas Poster JPEG

Thanks to the amazing Lavender Hill Mob Theatre Company all is well this festive season.  The wonderful performers took to the stage on Tuesday in their annual Christmas panto at the Corn Exchange and will once again this afternoon and tonight.

They are an Inclusive Theatre Company. This means that everyone is welcome no matter what their abilitiesand no audition is necessary. Everyone is respected, valued and encouraged to take part, no matter how small their contribution is.

Most of their material is original, giving everyone a chance to pursue their own talents, or to develop talents/skills that some didn't think they had. Some of their members choose not to act, dance or sing, but take an interest in the more technical side of the Theatre, which can be as equally challenging as performing on the stage. You don't need to be an actor to act, a singer to be able sing, or a dancer to be able to dance!

Each member of the group respects one another and is taught that everyone has a gift of some sort. All their performances include sign language (BSL) where appropriate. Moreover, their older members are encouraged to do extra training, such as first aid and sign language, in order to teach the younger members.

Membership of the group has risen from 15 members to over 80 and is still increasing. Members are split up into groups. Each group has Team Leaders to assist the Directors and help to encourage and control the more challenging members and stimulate the learning environment.

North Lynn House Fire

16th November 2017

Once again, THANK YOU!   Whenever help is needed KLFM listeners always step up to the mark, every single time,   You may have heard about the terrible house fire yesterday in North Lynn, it left a family home completely gutted and everything inside ruined.  Along with everything you might expect being burnt to nothing it also meant the family’s children, three boys aged 9, 12 & 13 with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.  I spoke to Graham the home owner on the show who told us about his situation and when he discovered his home on fire.

This was followed by some very nice offers of clothes and shoes and even some cash, did you hear the £1000 Minute?

Fortunately no one was injured in the fire including pets who weren’t at home at the time either.

Good Morning All Saints Church

13th November 2017

On Friday Night the great and good from around King's Lynn descended on the Town Hall for the All Saints Supper.  Hosted by Father Adrian the evening raised money for All Saints Church in Hillington Square which is in need of a little repair...  Among the familiar faces enjoying a drink or two and bite to eat before parting with cash at the nights charity auction where Madam Mayor of King's Lynn & West Norfolk Cllr Carol Bowyer, Chairman of Discover King's Lynn Darren Taylor, Father Adrian himself and many others including someone called Charles Dennett from Home Time on KL.FM.

Judging by the video they had not only a Good Night but a Good Morning too.

Local Hero Awards - Teacher

8th November 2017

Yesterday I met this amazing bunch at Gayton Primary School.

They all received some of our Be Safe, Be Seen stickers thanks to Adrian Flux and also told me what makes a great teacher. I also spoke to a few people around King's Lynn about what they remember from their school days too.

In January KL.FM is holding our first Local Hero Awards and right now we are asking for nominations in a number of categories, one of which is for Teacher of the Year.  Do you know of a teacher that has taken a special interest in making sure your child achieves or that makes them just love going to school?

To learn more about this and the other categories please visit the Local Hero page.

Treat Your Street

7th November 2017

Every day for the next three weeks KL.FM is treating your street with cold hard cash!  Your neighbour could win you £50 just for calling and listening to KL.FM Breakfast.

Just call and nominate your street then if your neighbour calls the next day when I ask they win you £50.  If then the next day their neighbour calls they will win £50, and guess what if their neighbour calls the day after that they win £50 too.

We want to Treat Your Street, make sure listening at 7:40 each weekday to be part of it.

Tony from Kirkham Close in Terrington St Clement so nearly won the cash this morning, however is next door neighbour called the show around 5 seconds too late meaning the door was left wide open for another street to steal the cash.  Laura Knocks from Jubilee Way in Necton now holds the purse strings providing her next-door neighbour calls the show tomorrow when I ask.

Good luck, read more about it here.

Be Safe Be Seen

1st November 2017

What a month!  I spent the whole of October traveling all over West Norfolk, Wisbech and Fakenham delivering reflective stickers to children at Primary Schools.  The reflective 'Be Safe Be Seen' stickers thanks to Adrian Flux will help keep the children just a little bit more visible whilst out playing with their friends or walking to and from school now that it's that much darker in the evenings.

We had over 5000 to deliver, I know that as I had to count every single one of them, but it's well worth it if it makes a difference to the children’s safety.
