A Friday night in Terrington
23rd February 2014
As a presenter at KL.FM I've been invited to many events, openings and special occasions over the past 15 years, I've met some amazing, interesting and important people but until last Friday (despite being made to dress as a woman for my show recently) I'd never been invited to the Woman's Institute.
The lovely ladies who meet once a month on a Friday at Terrington St Clement Village Hall asked if I could come and speak to them about my role at KL.FM and hopefully entertain them and straight away I thought this would be a really nice thing to do, I've done hundreds of talks and am defiantly no stranger to standing up and talking in front of an audience.
When I arrived at the event the WI meeting had just begun and as I looked around the village hall I was surprised to such a wide variety of ages, I was even more surprised to spot my wife’s Grand Mother in the audience! Apparently she was chairman about 10 years ago and came back especially to hear me talk. Whilst I was waiting to begin one thing that did grab me was the effort and passion the WI put into their evening, everything was well organised, there were some fun competitions and most importantly plenty of food just waiting to be eaten, I'm pretty sure had I been listening to me talk I'd of waned me to shut up pretty quick so that I could start munching away on the wonderful dishes made by just about every member of the group that attended.
I think my talk went well, I got a few laughs and no one fell asleep during my life story which was surely a good thing?!
Thanks for having me girls. x
