Children's public speaking at KLA

20th March 2015

Last night I was invited to King's Lynn Academy by Soroptmist International along with The Mayor of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, Councillor Barry Ayres.  It was my job to judge some amazing pupils from Reffley, Greyfriars, South Wootton, St Marthas, Whitefriars, St Michaels and St Edmunds Primary Schools.

The pupils were amazing, as Introducer, Speaker and Voter of thanks they chose to speak on one of five topics.

  • What is happiness?
  • Why don't sportswomen gain the same level of recognition and remuneration as their male counterparts?
  • How do you think climate change will affect you?
  • Who are the influential woman of today, and why?
  • Do Children in developing countries value education more than those in the UK?

I'd struggle to talk about these subjects and these children are only 10 years old or younger.  You should also remember that they were standing in front of around 100 people, strangers, friends and family which is very daunting.  There is now way I could have done that at their age!

Well done to all that took part and thanks for inviting me!
