A home for Christmas

20th December 2016

This weekend a house fire devatasted a West Norfolk's family's lives, since then Sarah Harrington and her children have been left homeless and without their posessions and clothes.

The community has rallyed round, KLFM donated toys from our Toy Appeal, the childrens school has provided new school uniform, complete stragners offered money, TV's and some items of clothing have been offered too, one local even paid for a few nights accomadation in a hotel for them but this morning on my show the most amazing thing that could happen happend

Grab a box of tissues, this is what you call community spirit!

Muzzy's Match

19th December 2016

This morning on the show I spoke to Ben Eves from Marham village who after breaking his leg a few years ago was the beneficiary of fund raising to help with living costs.  His mates rallied round to organise a charity football match on Boxing Day to lend their support.  Since then the event has become a little bit of a tradition every Boxing Day and now he's the organiser of the match.  Each game supports a different cause, the games so far have raised nearly £600 for a young man in Meadow House, Swaffham who was struck by a car and left for dead in Kings Lynn. He is paralysed, has no family in this country and no money so was left wearing I'll fitting clothes donated mainly by carers.  Also last year the game raised £800 for a 4 year old boy with a brain tumour, who had to spend Christmas undergoing treatment in America , the treatment and accommodation was funded by a large charity over here but loss of earnings and general living costs where not .

This year he wants to help again.... find out who and how you can help below

An emotional week!

16th December 2016

It’s fair to say I’ve just finished the most emotional three weeks of the year at KL.FM!  With your help our Toy Appeal received over 1500 presents, all donated by listeners and local companies.  These presents were then distributed all over West Norfolk, Wisbech & Fakenham, the generosity of others means that complete strangers were able to make sure their children had something to open on Christmas Day.  Some families I met had it not been for the Toy Appeal wouldn’t have anything to give their children on Christmas morning.   I made the last delivery on Wednesday to Reach for a Star the local charity that makes wishes come true for children with life limiting or life threatening medical conditions, others that benefited included Social Services who received 400 presents for the children they care for, Paediatrics A&E who thanks to Swinton now have a new toy kitchen for the children to play in while waiting to be seen, looked after children in King’s Lynn & Wisbech, little ones with learning difficulties and less able children, Bridge for Hero’s and their families, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, Speeda and so many more.

Thanks if you were part of this amazing appeal!

All of the above was finished with an amazing morning at the Town Hall.  Seven young heroes, their families and some very important invited guests joined us for the KLFM’s Young Hero’s to celebrate amazing youngsters in the area who have achieved greatness, helped others, made a difference or who simply deserved recognition for the efforts and achievements over the year.  To learn more about this and the winners just look at the Young Hero page.

It was an emotional morning and very heart-warming too.

Santa get's an Elfie

4th December 2016

On Saturday I took a trip to Aldiss in Fakenham for some more Christmas Elfies.  I'd heard on the grapevine that the big man himself was setting up a grotto for the afternoon and thought it might be nice to go meet the children as KLFM's resident Elf and to try and get an Elfie with Santa himself.

Toy Appeal 2016

2nd December 2016

What a week so far!  I've been out with the KL.FM team all over West Norfolk and Wisbech collecting toys for boys and girls that might not have a great Christmas this year.  Children who aren't with their parents, little ones who may be in hospital, foster homes, children with social services and many other situations.  Already we have a mountain of toys which really will make a massive difference to local youngsters and their families so if you've taken time to come and see us and donate thanks very much.  Today we will be at Morrison’s in King's Lynn between 11-1, to see where we are next week click here.

The ladies circle are helping wrap the week’s presents on Saturday so thanks to them for taking time out of their own weekend to help.
