Homeward Bound

27th April 2016

This morning I spoke about Pero the Sheepdog who made his way home from Cumbria to North Wales.  The dog somehow found his way back to his original owners who had given him to another farmer.

The homesick pooch ran away whilst out herding sheep and it turns out he's not the only pet to find it's own way home.  Take a look at these West Norfolk residents...

Above on the left meet Bluebell, Tiny, Cassie and on the right Beau who all have had their own little adventure and just turned up.

"Tiny went missing when I was 12 for a 3 days we looked everywhere for him, one day he just came running down the road like a lassie movie. He was bitten by a dog and ended up with three legs."

"My cat Bluebell went missing for 12 days, she turned up in our shed so must have been locked away then managed to get locked away again very unlucky! She came in hungry and thirsty but totally unfazed.

Also our dog Cassie dissappeared on a bonfire night she lived in people's gardens and along the river bank for 5 days she was found in Stow Bridge that was many years ago"

"In 2009 Our boy Beau went missing only three days after we got him. It was December, snowing and temperatures reached -10 at night. We searched for days all over Christmas and kept responding to sightings but when we got there he had gone. After about 10 days we stopped looking as we were sure he could not still be alive. We even got another puppy to try and make the upset a little more bearable. 3 weeks after he went missing we got a call from the local police to say he had been seen in a field in Swaffham. About a dozen people including the dog warden, farmer, my husband and father went to try and catch him and thankfully they did. He had lost about ten kilos in weight but otherwise was fine. This is him today. We love him to bits. I even contacted you at KLFM and you put out an appeal for us."

Our cat smudge who was born with deformed front legs went missing for 4 months! He came back very scared and took another month to get him back into the house he lived in an outside hay barn until his confidence came back he then stayed in doors after for most of the time sadly he's now died 😢 we never did discover why he went

Kylie Minouge vs Rick Astley

26th April 2016

This morning after play Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give you Up I found myself tansported back to 1988 and remembering the fun I had playing records at the wrong speed.  I was only 14 at the time and thought it was great fun to play records at the wrong speed and since then I'vew never forgotten what happend when I did it to Kylie's music.  Turns out if you play Kylie at 33rpm instead of 45rpm she turns into Rick Astley, listen for yourself below.

One thing I never did back then was play Rick Astley fast, this morning we did and made amazing discovery, it's actualy quite scary.  Listen to the audio below and tell me that it doesn't sound like Kylie.

My next queston have you ever seen Kylie and Rick in the same room at the same time?

Record Store Day

15th April 2016

Record Store Day

Every year on Record Store Day Independent record shops come together with artists and create exclusive releases to celebrate the art of music.

It's also a chance to celebrate the brilliance that is vinyl and on the show this morning we did just that by remembering the first record you ever bought, which on the whole wasn't that great.  Who can honestly say the first song they bought was actually any good?

Record Store Day takes place on Saturday 16th April, make sure you get to your local record store that's taking part for a fun day.

King's Lynn Sea Cadets

13th April 2016

Last night I spent the eveening with the sea cadets down on the Green Quay in King's Lynn for a special evening attened by the Mayor.  The BiAnnual Parade was an oppertunity for them to show distingushed guests and parents what they have been learning and promote what they do.

Children between the ages of 10-12 can join cadets as juniors, 12-18 year olds can join as seniors,  they spend most of the summer boating at saddlebow,  in the winter they are at the unit learning first aid, seamanship (knots and rope work) and drill .

The cadets just last year were away on courses gaining mountain bike, sailing, catering and lots more qualifications, also some went to Plymouth for a week's course.

The girls also made it through to the football nationals and won which was a massive achievement.

There is plenty to keep them busy!

Parade nights are a Tuesday and Friday at  18:45 till 21:00. 9 New combers are welcome to ust come along and give it a try or find our unit via the sea cadet web page.

The cost is jsut £15 a month.

MIND - From Pentney to Africa

12th April 2016

Hats of the Lee Bigland who’s jetting off to Africa to climb Mount Kilimanjaro raising money for West Norfolk MIND.  He’ll climb the highest mountain in Africa in August, but not content with that he has one or two ideas up his sleeve beforehand.

Lee and around 50 musicians got together last weekend to record their own version of Africa’s ToTo at Sickroom Studio’s in Pentney.  You’ll be able to see and hear the song on this blog later this week and also hear its first play on KL.FM.  Lee hopes he will get coverage elsewhere too and to raise as much money as he can for this charity.

M.I.N.D provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem and also campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.  They rely on donations so hopefully Lee’s efforts will be greatly rewarded.
