Has Darren Got Talent

20th May 2016

This morning I was joined by Darren Altman who is hoping to make it through to the live Semi-Finals on Britain's Got Talent this weekend.  His impressions in the heats wowed Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alisha Dixon and he sailed through with four yes's.

Watch Saturday Night on ITV to see if he makes it through and hear just how amazing his impersonations are below.

Good luck Darren.

18th May 2016

Yesterday after around seven and half months of running around West Norfolk, Wisbech and Fakenham I finally found my 5000th person on 10,000 Selfies.  It was a really special moment, not for me but for Nicola Withers and her lovely family from Downham Market.  Just for being in the right place at the right time Nicola has won an Audi Convertible for the weekend from King's Lynn Audi!

Watch her reaction below and check out the faces of those that missed out but where so close!

To see all the pictures, find yours and check your number click here for the 10,000 Selfie gallery.  Remeber one of the Selfies will win an Ipad when I evneutaly reach 10,000.

Mercury and the Sun

10th May 2016

Thanks to the King's Lynn and District Astronomy Society who I met on the Tuesday Market Place yesterday to take a look at Mercury in transit over the Sun.

It’s a rare astronomical event, it’s an event that only takes place once every 13 years and above you can see the planet for yourself, well if you look closely you can see it, if you look very closley!

The Tornado Trail

6th May 2016

The Tornado Trail

You may remember the Spitfire Trail around King’s Lynn last year, around 24 spitfires placed all over the centre of town and painted in the colours of their sponsors.  It was an excellent addition to the many things to do in our amazing town and this year you’ll get another opportunity to do something very similar.

Last night I visited the launch of the Tornado Trail with the Air Cadets in King’s Lynn (42F (King's Lynn) Air Cadets) to see the first plane painted, fortunately Cllr Colling Manning the Mayor of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk applied the first touch  I had no hand in the artwork whatsoever.

The Tornado Trial is part of R.A.F Marham’s 100th anniversary celebrations and along with the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk and the Cadets you can be part of it when it begins in June.

There are around 14 Tornado’s that still need sponsorship and if you’re interested there’s more information available here. They are yours to keep after the event and are most definitely a talking point should they end up in your home or office.

Air Cadets - Tornado Trail Launch

Big thanks for the invite from Flight Lieutenant Pauline Petch who also gave me a little tour of the 42f’s home and told more about what they do.  This includes taking part in numerous events in the community, ranging from charity work, parades and Civic Events, to assisting at the Sandringham Flower show and Stradsett Rally.

The squadron also organises several trips during the year including the visiting of war graves in France and Belgium which many cadets find emotional. The other visits include visiting Museums, RAF Stations and trips to Scotland to watch the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

They also have adventure training expeditions overseas and the opportunity to go to different parts of the country on an RAF Summer Camp.

There are many experiences that being a member of the squadron can offer and if you’re interested or know someone who is please contact the Cadets on (01553) 661240
