KLA Rewards

21st December 2017

On Tuesday I was invited to King's Lynn Academy to meet the entire school and see their Final Rewards Assembly of the year.  As I imagine in most schools pupils are awarded over the year for efforts, attendance and success and this assembly recognises those achievements not only for the students but the staff too.  Teachers had also been nominated by the students for the assembly in which I handed out the awards and best of all a laptop to one of the 100 best students at KLA.

At the end of the assembly 100 balloons were dropped from the balcony above, it was my job to pick one at random and pop it to reveal the winning name inside.  Congratulations to Summer who won the star prize.  By a spooky coincidence she has been working with our very own Posh Charles as dancer in this year’s Panto at the Alive Corn Exchange.

The Purfleet Trust

20th December 2017

Last night at All Saints Church on Hillington Square a group of hardy people joined together to support The Purfleet Trust with an evening of Carol Singing and maybe some Mulled Wine and Mince Pies too,

The Purfleet Trust was set up as a charity in 1993 to provide help for single homeless people in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk. Its services now include housing advice to help people find accommodation, support to help them maintain their tenancies, and a Health and Wellbeing Centre providing a daily hot meal and the opportunity to gain some essential life skills. The centre can be used as a postal address and there is free access to both computers and the telephone.

The organisation relies on charitable donations, including charitable trusts, Crisis, Local Authority, Big Lottery as well as generous donations from the local community.

Toy Appeal - Thank you

19th December 2017

Thank you

Everyone at KL.FM would like to say a massive “Thank you” to everyone who helped with our Toy Appeal which this year was our biggest yet, over £20,000 of toys were donated in just two weeks which is absolutely amazing.   These presents were collected at Morrison’s, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury stores all over West Norfolk, Wisbech and Fakenham.  We spent just two hours at each location and were overwhelmed each and every day, the generosity was amazing!

You've helped all these people...

The demand for toys this year was even bigger than ever too, and despite a 30% increase in requests the appeal still managed to collect enough to make sure every child that needed a present got one.

This year the following all received gifts thanks to the appeal:

  • Scotty’s Little Soldiers
  • Rudham Ward - Queen Elizabeth Hospital
  • Roxborough Children’s Centre - Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Christmas Unity from Fakenham for Christmas Numer One

18th December 2017

Meet this amazing bunch...

Christmas Unity

They are the Alexanders form Fakenham

After what can only be described as a very turbelent past five years for this family they are now singing to bring hope and help to others.  From the turmoil of broken families and financial disaster a single Dad and a single Mum with 5 children embarked on an adventure called Blended Family Life.

Their song Merry Merry Christmaswas released on 1st December and is raising cash and awareness for EACH'sNook Appeal.  All the money from sales will go to the appeal which needs £10 million to build a new hospice for children with life-threatening conditions and their families across Norfolk.

As i write this the band sit in Amazon's Top 10 singles chart above the likes of Ed Sheeran, Noel Gallagher, Emenim, Wham and more.  Please help them to get to number 1 and raise cash for this great cause.

It's only 99p! - Help and get a copy here
