Enjoy sumptuous summer sounds in a family-friendly concert!
The Norfolk Symphony Orchestra is proud to present its summer concert on the afternoon of 23rd June. The blissful setting of St Nicholas’ Chapel, King’s Lynn, will reverberate with some of the greatest tunes ever composed, and under-18s get in free!
Smetana’s Vltava is the story of a great river, from tinkling spring through exciting rapids to majestic grandeur. Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade is also full of tales; Sinbad, shipwrecks and romance. In both these pieces, the orchestra creates a kaleidoscope of colour and gorgeous sounds. The thrilling violin solo will be played by international virtuoso Paula Muldoon (due to our much-loved leader Philippa Barton breaking a finger recently – get well soon!). Add to all this the beauty of Dvorak’s Czech Suite, for ten wind instruments, and you have the perfect summer afternoon, and a wonderful introduction to classical music for younger listeners, under the baton of maestro Philip Hesketh.
Up to three under-18s will be admitted free with each adult ticket, and children are guaranteed to enjoy the sights and sounds on display. 23rd June, 3.30pm, £16 (call box office on 01553 764864 for under-18 offer).
