West Norfolk pub receives runner up award

Published at 9:35am 7th April 2017.

The Peddars Inn in Sporle, described by one CAMRA member as 'the pub anyone would be happy to have in their village' has featured highly in the judging for West Norfolk's Pub of the Year competitions on several occasions.  This year the branch decided to recognise the closeness of the vote and awarded a 'runners up' certificate.

"Keith and I have run the pub for the last 5 years.  The Peddars Inn, was previously called The Squirrels Drey which closed suddenly.  It has now been built up over the last 5 years into a real community pub.  We have monthly quiz nights on the third Friday of every month, where money is raised for a charity.  This is a really popular event and is often sold out with over 70 people attending.  Last year we raised over £3,500 for local and national charities.  We also hold regular music nights, with a variety of music on a Friday or Saturday night.  We are also known as being very dog friendly, with our four legged friends having a 'dog menu' available.  They even have a photo taken which is put on a 'Doggie Wall of Fame'

We are super proud to be runner up for CAMRA West Norfolk Pub of the Year.  We take great pride in serving a great pint and always have 1 or 2 local ales on tap, as well as permanently having Adnams Southwold Bitter available.

We have a great team who work hard to make The Peddars Inn a success.  Meals are also served Wed through to a Sunday"

Steve Barker, Chairman of West Norfolk CAMRA, made the award, commenting on the friendliness of the pub and the quality of its local real ales, and wished Lis and her team well in future competitions.
