Environmental Health inspectors have awarded the Crown Inn, Gayton a five star rating for its food hygiene standards after a recent inspection.

Five stars is the highest rating that can be awarded.

Each unannounced inspection checks how hygienically the food is prepared, cooked, cooled and then stored.

The cleanliness, layout and ventilation of a building is inspected, as well as how the pub manages and records what it does to ensure hygiene is of the highest standard.

Speaking about the rating, Neil Staples and Lisa Brindle, new licensees of the Greene King pub said:

"We are absolutely delighted to have achieved the top rating which demonstrates just how hard our team works every day behind the scenes to ensure we produce food to the highest quality.

"Introducing a brand new menu and new ways of working were always going to be challenging however our team have embraced the change and this publicly recognises those high standards and hard work."
