Bin Fats!! Plea from Anglian Water
8:13am 27th December 2013
People in West Norfolk and Wisbech are being warned they could end up with sewage flowing into their house if they don't be careful with fats this Christmas.
Anglian Water says around a MILLION turkeys will be cooked across the East of England today and tomorrow and that means a leftover pile of fat the size of 2 blue whales will be produced.
Emma Staples from the water authority says people need to let it cool and then bin it, rather than letting it get down the drain.
"We will help customers clean up and if there's a problem then you should call us straight away as we have engineers working throughout Christmas to make sure that the sewers keep going. But if it's in your private drain and it's too late then that has to be the worst Christmas Present of all."
