Two people have died in a light aircraft crash on the Sandringham Estate.

An investigation's been opened by the Air Accident Investigation Branch, after the incident early yesterday morning.

Reports say a man in his 50s and a woman in her 70s were pronounced dead at the scene.

The AAIB says it's on site in Wolferton gathering evidence and conducting interviews.

Henry Bellingham, MP for North West Norfolk, said that his heartfelt sympathy and thoughts have gone out to the families, relatives and friends of the two people tragically killed.

Commenting Henry Bellingham MP said:

“I would like to pay tribute to the exceptional professionalism of the Emergency Services who were on the scene so quickly. We are indeed grateful to have men and women in these services of such a high calibre.

“Light aircraft crashes, which were quite a common occurrence, are now exceptionally rare so obviously there will be a very full and comprehensive Air Accident Investigation into what happened.”
