Paul Bastock Wisbech goalie

12:59pm 14th November 2017

The Wisbech goalie has beaten a world record!

Paul Bastock has now reached the most club appearances ever!

He's reached the huge achievement of 1,250 games at the tender age of 47.

Paul told KL.FM just how much the game has changed since he started:

"The game changed not only with the ball, it's the way everyone went long.

"The pitches have changed, obviously from being a boggy pitch, now they're all AstroTurf.

"The style of football it's all about possession and in my day it wasn't, it was about how quickly you can get it up to your two front men."

He's been playing the game for three decades and plans to retire soon.

But, before he does, he told KL.FM some of the highlights of his career:

"I've managed to play football league at the age of 17.

"Won the FA Youth Cup with Coventry City when they won the Fa Cup against Tottenham in the same week.

"Obviously, getting Boston Utd into the footbal league and playing every game for the next two years until I had a knee operation and was told to pack in full time football.

"So, there's been plenty of highlights."
