PM joins fight to save hundreds of West Norfolk jobs

Published by the KLFM News Team at 6:12am 7th December 2017.

Taking the fight to save hundreds of West Norfolk jobs to parliament.

And it looks like West Norfolk MP Sir Henry Bellingham has picked up a big ally in the fight against CITB.

The Construction Industry Training Board want to move their HQ from Bircham to Peterborough.

That's why Sir Henry asked this at Prime Minister's Questions yesterday:

"Does she agree that, post-Brexit, it will be absolutely crucial that we enhance skills and apprenticeships in the construction and housing sector?

"Does she also agree that now is not the time for the Construction Industry Training Board to be proposing to close its site at Bircham in West Norfolk, putting at risk 600 jobs in a rural area?

"Will she meet me to discuss this, and will she help me in my campaign?"

The Prime Minister replied:

"My hon. Friend is a great champion for his constituency, and he has been a great supporter of the CITB at Bircham.

"I am very happy to support his campaign; I wish him well, and I am happy to meet him."

Henry told us:

"In my experience it is actually very rare for the Prime Minister to do anything other than offer her sympathies and support, but for her to say she would actually help me with the campaign is quite exceptional."
