Car catches fire on A47 in Dereham

A vehicle has caught fire on the A47 in Dereham.

The Westbound carriageway, heading towards Swaffham, is now closed.

Fire crews from Watton and Dereham were called at around 7:45 this morning (19th Dec) and have distinguished the blaze.

The car caught fire near to the A1075 and is now blocking the road.

Police are currently on scene, dealing with the traffic.

People travelling between Norwich and Dereham have been affected and delays are to be expected for some time.

Highways have also been called as there is fuel or oil in the road.

UPDATE: The road has reopened and traffic has returned to normal.
