They gave their lives keeping us safe and now Norfolk is remembering them.

We're paying our respects as crews in our county take part in Firefighter Memorial Day.

A parade and a minute's silence will be held at King's Lynn fire station from midday.

Station Manager Bob Ayers told KLFM:

"Over the last 29 years that I've been in the fire service - I've had the misfortune to attend three firefighters' funerals.

"It's testimony to the respect people have for the role.

"It's a very moving moment like a funeral would be but they're very poignant when you see how many people attend.

"You take this time to reflect that happened in the past and how lucky you've been in the job to getaway with some things that others sadly haven't.

"It's an opportunity to remember those who have given their lives."
