A Wisbech family has paid tribute to their son who died during a collision with plant machinery.

Daniel Gooch was working at road works at Runnymede Roundabout in Egham when it happened on 1st June.

Surrey Police and paramedics were called to the scene at around 12:50am after the 40-year-old dad was seriously hurt.

Sadly Daniel passed away at the scene.

In a statement through the police - Daniel's family said:

"We cannot begin to describe our devastation, following the loss of Daniel.

"Daniel is our adored son, father, partner, brother, uncle and friend. He will be forever loved and missed by us all. The messages of love, sympathy and condolence have meant so very much to us."

"In the weeks and months to follow, we hope to understand what circumstances preceded the accident that lead to Daniel losing his life."

"We would now like to request that our privacy is respected as we come to terms with his premature death.”

A coroner’s inquest has been opened and adjourned.
