A bean-ormous story for Fakenham?

Is it a latte fuss about nothing in Fakenham? Or is it a bean-ormous story for the town?

Well plans for a new Starbucks have been put forward.

It would bring a few perks with 30 new jobs being created at the drive through at Morrisons.

First for the town

But it would leave a bit of a bitter taste as it would take up 51 car parking spaces.

Planners say that would come from the “under-utilised” part of the car park.

If it goes ahead - it would be the first Starbucks branch in Fakenham and the second in North Norfolk.

Creating new jobs

A planning statement for the proposal said:

"The current proposals would promote the more efficient use of previously developed land within an established employment and commercial area to the north-east of Fakenham.

“The proposed small-scale drive through and retain units will represent complementary additions to the established range of uses within this part of town, providing local facilities for existing shoppers at Morrisons, employees of surrounding businesses, local residents and passing motorists.”

A Morrisons spokesman said:

“The planning application for a new Starbucks at our Fakenham car park is part of work to add more popular and useful services to our stores.

“If approved, the Starbucks and additional unit will also create new jobs.”
