"Thank you for everything you gave and everything you fought for"

remembrance event at howard junior school 2

Published by Grace Mcgachy at 5:37am 9th November 2018.

"They gave their lives for our future".

Wise words from someone so young.

This King's Lynn school held an amazing remembrance service yesterday, watch it below.

Pupils dressed as soldiers and nurses along with actors paid tribute to those who lost their lives.

It's marking a hundred years since the end of the First World War.

Inside the children made a Poppy Art Installation.

Outside they created a huge temporary WW1 commemorative structure on the school field.

As the children laid down crosses a recording played of the students reading out all 600 names on the King's Lynn and West Norfolk war memorial.

The Mayor along with representatives from the Royal British Legion and Norfolk Police attended and laid a wreath of poppies.

Chairman of the King's Lynn branch of the RBL Gerry Tann told KLFM:

"I think it's absolutely amazing the way the children have adapted themselves to this.

In particular, those who don themselves in uniform.

This is not a game, this just not a dressing up game they really understand the meaning of this.

To me because I've had family who served in both wars I've devoted myself to support them always.

They looked after grandfather and my father and this is what it's all about.

We must never forget.

We don't want wars, but we can't forget those who went and fought for us and gave us the lives we have today."
