Plans to put the QE on the road to recovery.

That's the message we're hearing from the hospitals new CEO Caroline Shaw.

She's determined to get them out of special measures but says it's not going to happen overnight.

She outlined her top priorities for the trust, including bed capacity which is often above a safe level in King's Lynn.

Caroline said there are "lessons to learn" and she aims to reduce the number of nurse and medical vacancies in the next year as well as improve their financial standing.

"We're still on a journey of recovery so we look forward to being inspected again but also we know we still have lessons to learn and to develop on.

It is a really difficult situation and it's really hard for our staff.

I'm focussing on a couple of key areas.

Firstly on strengthening leadership right through the organisation.

The second point which is really important for me is to make sure we're safe for our patients and families.

So that they feel when a loved one comes into the QE they're not worrying. "

Mrs Shaw went on to say how vital the support from the West Norfolk community is for the QE:

"I would absolutely say that it's gold dust having the support that we have from the community and from patients who've had a stay in our hospital and I just think it's wonderful."
