It's a start - but when will we see changes in West Norfolk?

A meeting between the A47 Alliance and local authorities has given the clear go ahead for dualling of the A47 to be completed on time.

Their key priority now is to get the whole road dualled to improve the A47 in West Norfolk.

Currently only just over 50% of it will be made into a dual carriageway.

A47 Alliance have been appealing for the authorities to update the full 115-mile length road for economic growth.

Attending the meeting was Norfolk County Councillor Martin Wilby, MPs George Freeman and Henry Bellingham; the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, James Palmer; the Leader of King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council, representatives of private businesses and Highways England.

They all agreed that dualling the entire A47 was crucial moving forward.

North West Norfolk MP Sir Henry Bellingham told KL.FM:

"Whilst the existing £300 million investment in the six schemes on the A47 is welcome, once completed only slightly more than 50% of the road will be dualled. This is why myself and other local MPs are constantly applying pressure on the Department for Transport and the Treasury for more investment."

"What was really impressive about the meeting is that there is now unanimous agreement among all the key politicians, Local Authorities and other bodies. This is why I am confident that by working together we can achieve our aim of getting the A47 fully dualled."

He's said that he will apply for an Adjournment Debate in the House of Commons; and another delegation to go and see the Minister, in order to get the investment.
