Please don't do this if you see a dog swimming out to sea.

Hunstanton Coastguard are sharing this vital advice after an incident this afternoon (14th May).

They were paged at 12:50pm along with the RNLI and Wells Coastguard to reports that a dog was out in the waters off West Norfolk's coast.

Members of the public had gone into the sea to try and rescue the dog.

The Coastguard confirmed no one was hurt during this incident and the dog made it back to land safely.

But crews are urging us to never do this as it puts our own lives at risk and rarely helps the dog or animal in the water.

Last JuneHunstanton RNLI were called out to a drowning where a woman had tried to save her dog.

The animal made it out okay but the owner did not survive.

Hunstanton Coastguard said:

"Dogs will always come back whether you think they can’t here you calling or not.

"Please don’t become a victim to the mud or sea for an animal that will make its own way back in time."
