Bigger means better for Norfolk's air ambulance

Bigger means better when it comes to this life-saving charity in Norfolk.

Plans are being put forward to expand the East Anglian Air Ambulance base.

It wants to be a 24/7 service by 2020 and this would be a big part of the campaign.

Nicki Blake, marketing and communications manager at EAAA said:

“The new facilities would be a massive part of our vision to increase our services and reduce the impact of trauma on the region.

“At the moment we are very squashed in at our base but to achieve our ambition to provide 24/7 service we would need more crews so with this we will need more space.

“A 24/7 service would allow us to attend hundreds of more missions and therefore provide hundreds of people with the life-saving care they need – day or night should not dictate the level of emergency care people receive in their hour of need.”

If the plans are approved - parts of EAAA's hanger would be knocked down and replaced with a larger.

That would mean crews could provide first aid training on site and there would be better welfare facilities to look after crews as well.

There would also be room for a conference space and as well as a greater area to operate in.
