"What right does cancer have?"

A Wisbech woman is sharing her powerful story to give more women hope.

Beverley Wakefield is coming to the end of successful breast cancer treatment at the QE in King's Lynn.

Beverley refused to let the cancer get her down

But she wants to change the perception that many people have about the disease.

Beverley was amazed and surprised by the quality of care and treatment she was given by staff at the hospital.

She's been telling KLFM that it gave her the strength to see the positive in what could have been a horrible negative.

"Cancer had no place in my life and it wasn't going to stop me, it wasn't going to make me another statistic so I was going to beat this and get through it.

"There's things that you just want to carry on doing - what right does cancer have to stop you?

"So it's so important that we get across to people that cancer can be positive and it really has for me."

Getting back onto the bike - quite literally!

Now we'd love a penny for Beverley's thoughts about this fundraiser but as she explained the hospital staff really do need the money to make care even better:

"They would like to provide more reading material.

"I mean one poor chap who was on his first chemo therapy brought in an autotrader which he was thumbing for the whole three hours that I was there!

"So I think they want to provide more in-depth reading material.

"I just want to say a huge, huge thank you to the staff because they've given me my life back and taken this nasty cancer away."

So Beverley has set up 'My Ride for Life' as she and her daughter raise money for the QE by riding Penny Farthings!
