People in King's Lynn have been inundated with scam phone calls.

There have been numerous reports of pre-recorded messages threatening victims today (12th July).

Most appear to claim they're from British Telecom and say your internet is about to be cut off unless you respond to the call.

Others say you've been a victim of cyber crime and are about to be put through to the police.

Norfolk Police and BT would never contact residents like this.

Recently officers warned us about cold callers who claimed that a large amount of money had been transferred from your credit card to a foreign account.

Norfolk Police said:

"We always advise people to be very wary of claims made during telephone cold calls. If you receive this or a similar recorded message call our advice is do not interact with the call and hang up.

"If you have received a telephone cold call which you believe to be a scam you can report it to us via our partners, the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 03454 04 05 06."
