"What a courageous and inspirational young woman. Keep fighting."

Just one of the kind messages we received about Ruby from King's Lynn after KLFM shared her story.

The 22 year old was diagnosed with an aggressive type of leukaemia last year and it's been a tough 12 months of treatment.

  • "I lost my health, my hair, my fertility"
  • Ruby was diagnosed in A&E after she felt like she was suffering severe flu symptoms
  • Within 24 hours she started chemotherapy
  • She's had more than 50 blood transfusions and three rounds of chemo
  • Ruby received a stem cell transplant and she's hoping to meet the donor next year

Ruby told KLFM earlier this week what it's like to fight cancer for a year:

"I think you find out a lot about yourself when you're very critically ill.

Being ill for a year is a really long time,

My family is always laughing because I just say crack on.

I lost my health, my hair, my fertility, my DNA.

To be brutally honest some days I didn't think I'd see the end of the week, let alone a year."

But a lot of you reached out with words of love and support:

Karla Hyam said:

"Ruby is truly an amazing person"

Clair Hodgson:

Rosie O'Leary:

"What a fighter, keep it up I hope all is successful for you, you've been through so much and you have a good life ahead of you."

Linda Adcock:

"Go girl you can win this!"

Ruby wants to give money to the Teenage Cancer Care Trust to thank them for all their support.

She's already raised over £3,000.
