A court saw how a man filmed hare coursing hunts with his dogs as the animals "screamed in distress".

Leo Price was fined after being found guilty of six offences under the Hunting Act.

The 26-year-old from Keswick refused to leave his prison cell - he'd already been jailed for other offences - and was ordered to pay £1,130.

The RSPCA found this footage on his phone - be warned it is very distressing.

The RSPCA’s Special Operations Unit (SOU) uncovered evidence that Price was involved in illegal activities during a separate investigation into cockfighting.

The charity then found that Price had posted hare coursing videos on social media.

Norfolk Police then raided his address and the RSPCA found five lurchers and a mobile phone.

That's when the charity found more videos of hunting, catching and killings of hares.

RSPCA SOU Inspector Carroll Lamport said:

“These videos were extremely shocking and upsetting, showing hare screaming as they’re caught and killed.

“Hare coursing is illegal, cruel and barbaric. It has no place in today’s society.”

The court forfeited the hares to the RSPCA who will now try to re-home them.
