Extinction Rebellion are protesting in King's Lynn today.

They're outside Barclays bank on the High street.

They're doing this to highlight Barclay's continued investment in in fossil fuel industries.

They claim that Barclays is the worst fossil fuel funder in Europe, having invested £70.3 billion in fossil fuel exploitation between 2016 and 2018 and a further £19.8 billion on new exploration.

Dr Charlie Gardner, who is a member of Extinction Rebellion, said:

"To still be exploring for new deposits is extraordinary when we know that we have to leave most of our known reserves in the ground, unburned, if we are to have any chance of avoiding catastrophic climate breakdown and unimaginable human suffering.

"It is particularly ironic that the very spot where Barclays stands on our proud High Street is likely to be underwater within decades as a result of the sea level rise that Barclays is profiting from."

Their message to Barclays is:

"Profiting from our destruction is not acceptable, and until you divest completely from fossil fuels then you are not welcome on our high street."

KLFM has contacted Barclays for comment.
