It's set to be faster and even more exciting this year.

The Hunstanton Soapbox Derby returns later this month.

But if you want to take part you better hurry as you only have until tomorrow! (Friday 6th Sep).

The races return on Sunday 22nd September with a few new surprises.

The new, faster, course starts on Greevegate, has a couple of sharp turns and ends up on Beach Terrace Road overlooking the sea.

Patrick Richardson from Hunstanton won the veteran class last year and has created, with his grandson Oliver, an Apollo 11 rocket to race on the course.

"We hope to get to the moon if we go fast enough down this hill.

It's really great, it's 50 years sincle Apollo 11 took the three astronauts to the moon and we thought we must celebrate.

The new course is absolutely brilliant, much faster, much more exciting. It’ll be a great family day out. I’m hoping they suspend the 30 mile per hour speed limit round here for the day as we expect to exceed that.”

Ed Napolitano, who has won the soapbox race for the last two years, said:

“I’m excited about it. The track is similar to some of the suggestions I made to the council.

It should be faster than last year.”
