Fighter jets from RAF Marham headed back to the United States this morning.

The F-35 Lightnings were meant to leave earlier in the week, but their departure was delayed.

They've used in the Royal Air Force, on tasks at home and abroad, since June last year.

Crowds gathered to welcome them on their arrival into West Norfolk in 2018.

At the time, Station Commander Ian Townsend said:

"[This is] a culmination of years of hard work from a number of people.

"But it's also a culmination of support from the local community as well.

"How could the Air Force not have confidence in a station that's done so well with the Tornado jets since 1982?

"So Marham is very well versed in delivering operational capability for the RAF."
