Police in Norfolk and Suffolk have arrested 80 people in just nine days on suspicion of drink or drug driving.

It's all part of their crackdown during December and January.

There were 39 suspected drug drivers and 41 suspected drink drivers.

Sgt Chris Harris said on Twitter:

"We're through the first week of the Christmas Drink and Drug Drive and I'm shocked at the number of drivers willing to risk injury to themselves and others.

We do target it all year round and is a high priority, we just use the campaign to remind people about the dangers and consequences and they can help report it."

The campaign launched on the 1st December and coincides with KLFM's Drink Drive Campaign.

Throughout the month we'll be sharing stories from those affected by drink driving and the emergency services who have to deal with serious crashes and the aftermath.  Like Anne who lost her son to a drunk driver:

Drink driving is one of the so-called Fatal Four on our roads.

Those are the main reasons behind serious and fatal collisions.

Punishments could range from a fine of up to £2,500, losing your driving licence or up to three months in prison.
