Which businesses have the best festive window displays?

Glittering baubles, snowflakes, elves and sleighs, pinecones and mock fireplaces.

Just some of the Christmas decorations that now adorn over 70 shop windows around King’s Lynn town centre.

It's all part of the first-ever Festive Window Competition.

The winners announced yesterday are:

  • Deck of Cards
  • Envy Hair Salon
  • Nip & Growler

Who took the top three places in what has been described at 'a spectacular and highly competitive field'.  

Additional prizes have also been awarded to the Flower Corner and Stephenson Smart.

The competition set up by Discover King’s Lynn, the Business Improvement District for King’s Lynn Town Centre was open to all businesses in the town centre area with the aim of boosting the town’s Christmas appeal and making it look even more attractive for shoppers and visitors. 

Janette Crawford, Acting BID Chair and Manager of Wilko King’s Lynn said: 

"We wanted to encourage everyone to get involved and take part in the town this Christmas.

It has been wonderful to walk around and see the beautiful displays that people have created and the effort that people have gone to, I’d like to thank everyone for taking part.” 

Over 70 businesses from retailers to estate agents, beauty salons to accountants took part in the competition which is new to town this year.

The entries were judged by Cllr Elizabeth Knockolds and Tom Clarke from The Old Stores, Roydon using three criteria; creativity, effort and detail.

Cllr Elizabeth said: 

“It was amazing to see the variety of displays and the number of businesses who took part, I was really impressed” 

Bid Manager Vicky Etheridge said: 

We have been overwhelmed by the number and quality of the entries; we hadn’t anticipated such an amazing response to our first window competition.

I’d like to congratulate everyone who took part for entering into the spirit of it all, you’ve given us lots to think about for next year, including a new prize for the Most Festive Street!” said Vicky Etheridge, BID manager.
