Police in King's Lynn have arrested 10 people over the weekend.

Two of these were drunk drivers.

One was in the early hours of Saturday morning in Gaywood and he provided a reading of 108 which is three times the limit.

The other in the early hours of Sunday morning providing a reading of 70 which is twice the limit.

Norfolk Police have been cracking down on drink drivers as part of their December campaign.

In 18 days they've arrested 44 people for the offence.

Of those, 15 people were fast-tracked to court where they lost their licence and were fined.

Drink driving can have a devastating impact on families, like Anne who lost her son because of a drunk driver last year.

Chief Inspector Kris Barnard, Head of the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing Team, said:

"I hope the results go some way to demonstrate the point that officers are out there targeting those that cause a danger on our roads.

We are also grateful to the members of the public who have assisted with information and have allowed us to take action. Of course, I would rather that everyone only drove when they were fit to do so. Our officers will continue to keep the pressure on those that choose to put themselves and others in danger.

I hope all are able to enjoy the festive period but I urge everyone to consider that the consequences of drink or drug driving are absolutely not worth the risk.”
