Meet KLFM's Young Hero Award winners for 2019!

Be warned - their stories may make you cry...

This morning (23rd Dec) we've been celebrating the most incredible children across West Norfolk.


Hear their stories
These little heroes have done everything from raising money for charities to battling awful diseases to caring for their parents.

Young Carer of the Year- Molly & Jack Moore 

Their mum had a very serious car accident a couple of years ago that left her in a wheelchair.

They have gone from having a normal childhood to care for their mum by helping her wash, taking the dog out, and getting her drinks

Little Fighter Award- Lily Wright 

Lily was just 5 years old when she was diagnosed with bone cancer, she's undergone major surgery and treatment over the last six months. But all she wanted to do before Christmas was go back to Tilney All Saints Primary.

Childhood Bravery Award- Amelia Watson 

Nine year old Amelia went above and beyond when her nanny passed out from choking. She remained calm and did all that was asked by the emergency operator on the phone.

Amelia did all this by herself while looking after and keeping her younger brother calm, telling him there was nothing to worry about.

Young Volunteer of the Year Award- Tia McCauley

Without being asked Tia has set up two separate events to raise money for The Teenage Cancer Trust.

In October last year, she raised over £100 through a collection, and only last week she raised an incredible £705 by hosting a Bingo Night and a raffle.

Primary School Award- Joshua Barnes

In a period of just over 6 months, Josh had to cope with the death of all of his grandparents and a difficult time at home.

Despite all of this, he maintained a 100% attendance for the school year, class golden pupil of the year, school sports champion and school tennis champion.

Teenage Achievement Award- Connor Blake 

Two years ago Conor was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called Polycythaemia Vera. This usually affects much older people with an average age of 60, Conor was 14. 

Despite everything he passed all his exams, achieving the grades he required to study level 3 Media studies at CWA

Mayor's Special Award- Miley Allen 

Miley overcomes obstacles every day she was born with only one hand; she has had numerous tests an operation and has to go to regular hospital appointments.

She had a hand made for her via 3D printing a new one will be needed with growth. Miley has just mastered 2 wheels on her bike after months of practice and many scrapes but she got up and tried again!  And she can now tie her own shoe laces
