If you think you can get away with doing this behind the wheel think again.

Sergeant Peter Howlett with Norfolk Police has joined KLFM's Drink Drive Campaign.

All through December, we've been sharing stories from those affected by drink drivers and the emergency teams that get called out to serious crashes.

"I've been to more fatal collisions than I care to remember and they do stick in your mind.

Just a year ago I had to speak to a woman whose son had been killed and we couldn't find her and in the end I had to phone her up and explain what had happened and meet her.

It was five o'clock in the morning when I got to see her and explain not only had her son been killed by the driver involved had been consuming alcohol and was under arrest."

"The message has been out there for years.

The safe limit is no alcohol.

But there are people who will continue to ignore that warning and advice.

Some drivers feel they'll never get caught but we do catch a lot of drink drivers especially at Christmas."

Norfolk Police have been cracking down on drink drivers as part of their December campaign.

In the first 18 days, they arrested 44 people for the offence.

Of those, 15 people were fast-tracked to court where they lost their licence and were fined.
