Flood warning issued for River Wensum in Fakenham

A flood warning has been issued for the River Wensum this morning in Norfolk (16th Jan).

Flooding is expected from Fakenham to Swanton Morley. 

The Environment Agency says it's due the heavy rain we experienced on Tuesday night (14th) and into Wednesday morning (15th).

Areas most at risk are:

  • Hempton Road in Fakenham
  • Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park
  • Great Ryburgh
  • Elmham Mill
  • Billingford Road
  • Worthing Bridge, Elmham
  • B1147 at Swanton Morley.

No more rain is forecast until late this afternoon and more is expected throughout the evening. 

The EA says on its website: 

"There is a possibility of some flooding of homes and businesses from now and through the rest of the morning.

Flood water is dangerous.

Don't put yourself or others at risk.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will update this message as necessary."
