This chef is making West Winch Primary proud!

Annalisa Grief, who works at the school, is the new LACA East of England School Chef of the Year 2020.

She will now go forward to represent the East of England at the 2020 National Final on March 5 in Stratford upon Avon.

The three East of England contestants who qualified to take part in the regional final held at Premier Foods, St Albans had to cook their dishes against the clock and under the scrutiny of a panel of Judges.

They had 90 minutes to prepare four portions of a main course and a dessert suitable for serving to 11 year olds in school.

Annalisa is employed by Norse Catering and is based at West Winch Primary School.

Her two winning dishes were:

  • MAIN COURSE:   A Taste of the Middle East – Chicken shawarma kebab with flatbread, Turkish slaw, summer couscous and a cool lemon dressing
  • DESSERT:   Cherry Berry Mousse Cake – Cherry yoghurt mousse on a brownie base with a blackcurrant glaze, coulis and tuile biscuit

Annalisa told KLFM before the final:

"I took past last year but I didn't make it to the final.

It was just to push myself further and I had so much fun last year so I just wanted to re-do it.

You have to be nervous don't you to get you through it.

So even though I know what to expect that's still nervewracking.

The children love it, they were really impressed last year when I did it, so this year they're even more thrilled."
